Back fi Hit di Road (December 12)

So after that awful trip home from Ochie, Saturday was pretty low key.  I spent half my day doing my wash, then had to finish it on Sunday because there was too much for one day (at least for me).  The girls had a practice for their opening dance this Saturday for the Miss Queensbury Crowning.   They got a little bit further, but not much.  We had to cut the night.  Again, with the creativity.  They can’t come up with dance moves.  They do the same thing over and over again.  There’s one girl that can legit dance.  Ha.  Everyone else is lost.  Hopefully they all look good on the 17th.

So Monday morning (6:45am departure time), I left for Kingston.  I actually had a pretty smooth ride. It only took me 3hrs to travel.  I had 2 appointments, one with a dermatologist and one with a psychiatrist.  The psychiatrist was supposed to be a 2pm appointment, while the other at 5pm, but apparently the doc went off island over the weekend.  But just as the nurses are amazing, they were able to find another dermatologist that takes walk-ins.  Well, sorta.  You go in, then wait n hope that someone cancels so you can fill their slot.  I got there at 11am.  Didn’t see the doc til 3:30pm.  Not ideal, especially since I had to push the other appointment back.  At least I was productive.  I wrote two letters and hashed out some other ideas, as well as took a nice likkle nap.  :-) I was certainly happy that I ate Oats that morning, cuz I wasn’t nearly as hungry as I should have been.  It turns out I have eczema on my scalp.  I have a shampoo, something to put on my scalp each morning, and each night.  He said that this clears up in 2 weeks 98% of the time.  Doc also instructed me to NOT be a part of the 2% that it doesn’t work.  I blame the change of climate for my dry, itchy scalp.

Psychiatrist appointment.  Why am I seeing a psychiatrist?  I must be crazy, right!?  Ha..nooo.. just a way so I can get a prescription for some Ritalin for my ADHD.  Which, he said that he didn’t think I had ADHD, I just have a problem focusing. haha.. Whatever.  I couldn’t get Ritalin.  So now I have Concerta.  I am a lil scared to take it, because I know what it did to me junior year of college (depression-mode).  But it will help me focus with the 1,000 distractions that I have in my mind and at site.  I’ve actually been able to get a lot done today while being on the meds.  Last time I took Concerta, it worked well for a couple weeks, then started making me feel awful, so I REALLY didn’t want to take it, but I have just enough pills for a month, and hopefully the nurses can get me some from Washington.  We’ll see.  I will be good, though.  I’m sure of it. :-)  I don’t really need this stuff, but it’s just a likkle kick starter.  I have a lot going on right now, and to have a likkle assistance in sorting through everything isn’t such a bad thing.  Just keep praying. :-)  I go back January 9 to talk to him again for a check-up.

After all my appointments were done, I went back to the office, and Clarista (one of the nurses) gave me a drive to Devon House where I was meeting up with my friend that lives up in Stony Hill (Marsha Lee, I think I mentioned her in a previous post, perhaps AVM post).  But yeah, she lives with my Host Mom that lives in Stony Hill.  We met at Devon House (best ice cream on Island), and decided that we were both far too hungry and wanted food food.  We sat at restaurant, looked at the menus, then settled on leaving to go eat huge Burritos at Chileatos.  YYYuuuuummmmyy!!  I didn’t get my ice cream, but the burrito was much needed.  I hadn’t eaten anything since 6:30, and although it took a bit to get to Chileatos, we still went and were eating by 7:30pm. :-)  Mi belly behn de happy!!!

So we grab a taxi heading to Half Way Tree, and I ask him to take me to the Indies Hotel (where I was staying for the night).  Yeah, he had no clue where it was, and I don’t really know Kingston that well, I just knew the street it was on, and he had no clue.  So I ended up going to Half Way Tree, and Marsha Lee callled a taxi driver she knows to come get me.  $350 Taxi ride later, I was finally at my hotel.  Good LAWD!!! I did some organizing of my mind, then fell asleep.

Next morning, got up, walked to the office (thanks for the great directions, Val), got some paperwork done, picked up my meds, and then got pseudo-lost with Clarista and Sandra as they tried finding the country bus park.  All was well, found it, they put me on a bus.  I was the first person on the bus.  I was NOT happy about this.  Not ANOTHER bus wait…ugh… To my extreme surprise, people stepped in quicker than usual.  I only had 30mins of vender harassment!  30mins at the country bus park in Kingston!?  That’s almost unheard of for me!  I always have to wait at least an hour or more.  I was so happy, and NOTHING went wrong the rest of the time!  Well, we got stopped by the cops, but nothing happened.  Just a short 5min chat, I guess.  Man.  For some reason, I decided to not move my legs at all for the 2hr drive to Mandeville.  My butt was going numb and I could feel my toes getting fatter, imagining them looking like small sausages by this point.  When I got off that bus, WOW-EEE!!!!  My knees felt like the tin man.  Good thing it was warm out, the sweat was acting like oil very much needed to make me walk.  When I reached the taxi stand, a drive spotted me, took me to his car, and expected me to get inside.  I ensured him that I would stay with him, but I needed to stand and stretch my legs.

I got off in junction knowing that I had little to no food at my place, but instead…I BOUGHT A CHRISTMAS TREE!!!

To Be Continued…
