Today
Not much to update on, but I guess I just have some thoughts.
I got this new dog, right? Max. She’s great. She can be a lil shit sometimes, but she learns quick. One smack on the butt or snout and she doesn’t do it again. She’s tiny though. I don’t think she will get too much bigger than what she is now, but we’ll see.
For those of you who don’t know, I grew up with two Siberian Huskies. Not even as puppies were these dogs tiny. I miss them, Wolife and her son Nanook. Nanook died before his mom, he ran off and got hit by a car. Wolfie, we’re all convinced that our bum ass neighbour poisoned her while we were gone visiting family for the weekend. We came back and she was just never the same. Probably the second worst phone call I ever received in my life was my father calling me while I was away at school. It was fall semester of my freshman year (2006). I was gettin ready to go toss a disc with some friends when he called and told me that he had to put her down. She just wasn’t doing very well. :-( As if I didn’t have enough goin on in my life at that time, God smashed that in my face. Kick me, while I’m down, egh?
In any case, Wolfie was the BEST DOG EVER! She was that huge dog that thought she belonged on your lap. We would ramp (err rough house) with her, she let us lay on her, she played in the snow with us (pulling us on sleds), she performed a number of tricks, she was awesome; and not to mention beautiful. Such a pretty dog. My mom tired gettin another dog a couple years after Wolfie passed, but just wasn’t the same. Now that dog isn’t even a part of the family any more.
It’s weird. I have my own dog, now. To raise, teach tricks, etc. So far so good. Max has no chance of living up to Wolfie; Nanook, maybe. He was a trouble maker
.
My brother loved Wolfie. He gave her special attention and called her HIS dog. He made this video of her a long time ago. It was before she even passed away (she passed away a lil under a year after he did). Videos with live voices and actions are nice to have sometimes. Makes you miss them agian err a lil more, but still, as long as there are good memories, right? I bet they are both playing together in heaven, now. <3

Today I walked the full 2 miles to church and the 2 miles home from church. The walk home is always worse (it’s usually around 9:15am). The sun is so freakin hot. I was in pants today because I burned the back of my legs while at the beach yesterday. Oops. I put sunscreen on this time! Everywhere! Guess just not enough. I was really tryin to avoid the sun burning thing this time. Eventually, I will get it right. No. Next time I WILL get it right. At any rate, walking home felt as though the sun was beaming every single ray onto my legs because, through my pants, I felt them; all of them. Good golly, I bet you could have fried an egg on me. Sucked. Then I remembered, “God created those rays. God created the beautiful clear blue sky I am starring at right now.” It helped. The pain was still there, but I was slightly more thankful for them. Needless to say, it still hurts to be sitting down right now. I’ve definitely been burned worse than this, but it doesn’t make the sctachyness any less annoying. As I was thinking about the blue sky, I said hello to some people loading watermelon into their van (J’cans call them vans. I for one, like pick up truck). Their response to my hello: “Yuh waan a melon?” I now have a small watermelon waiting for me to cut up tomorrow

Ummm…. I am in the beginning process of creating a young person’s group in my community. Name: The Qbury Core. Like it? Core meaning that these youths are the future of the community. Whether they go away and come back or stay here their entire lives, this is a family oriented community and their history is here. Their parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc, are not going to live forever. These kids need to take more of an interest in their community. Many of them help out on the farms, but my goal is to get ideas from them. What do THEY want to do with Queensbury? Do they want running water? Do they want more activity? More crop sharing? What is it? I’m looking at an age group of 13-25. Sound pretty wide-spread, I know. But there aren’t that many youths that are likely to join this club. Probs most people will be btwn the ages of 17-20, with a few younger ones. The couple young ones I am thinking are bright, so I want to include them.
I am looking at starting the group in March. I am making signs to put up around the community that just have minimal information on them. You know, keeping things mysterious, in hopes that people will come to the first meeting out of pure curiosity. ;-) Hope it works. I also hope I can draw a new crowd, as well. Not just the same 10 people.
Cool. Well that’s it for now. Likkle ma.

Crystal That was so beautiful the way you wrote about Eric and Wolfie. It made me think of all the good memories we have of Eric. I watched the video. You are right it does bring back good memories. I hope you have had your last sunburn. How long does it take you to get to the beach?
Love you, Aunt Shannon
If I ride my bicycle, it takes about 30mins. Taxi takes like 15mins, but I usually have to walk to a place where I can get a taxi (30min walk), and then wait for a taxi. The whole processes for that takes bout 45-50mins. But the sucky part bout riding my bike is that coming back home, it’s all uphill. So unless I beg for rides like I did yesterday, it’s a miserable ride/walk after being at the beach all day.
good luck with the core, even if its the same ten persons that’s a start and they can bring 1 person each over time
this is where marketing comes in. Sounds like Jamaicans like to be bribed with free stuff. Maybe you can use a couple of tricks. On your flyer you can say Whoever brings the most friends win a cake or watermelon or something. When they enter the door you can put a clothes pin on their shirt ( or something to tag them) As many friends as they bring they get a clothes pin. If you and I come together, either you get two pins or I get two pins or we each get one pin. Even if it is obvious that one person brought a guest then make a big deal out of it and big presentation of the watermelon or cake or whatever.
Just a little suggestion.
where did you dig up that wolfie video? wow forgot about it and made me cry.
